vancouver island british columbiaSituated on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we share a 2km common boundary with the vast East Sooke Park http://www.crd.bc.ca/parks/eastsooke/index.htm , containing over 30 miles of outstanding nature trails and 6 miles of protected virgin coastline.

The view across the water to the southwest is of Washington State's Olympic National Park where breathtaking glacier-clad peaks are interspersed with extensive alpine meadows and surrounded by extensive old growth forest. The Park boasts 100 km of protected wilderness coastline; the longest undeveloped coast in the contiguous United States. http://www.nps.gov/olym/

Silver Spray enjoys the reputation of southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands as having the mildest climate in Canada, thanks to the rain shadow effect of the nearby Olympic Mountains and shelter from the prevailing westerly's provided by Possession Point. Our warm ocean currents, prevailing winds, and the rain shadow ensure the area gets more sunshine than surrounding areas. Summertime is reliably warm and sunny, with frequent ocean breezes. Temperatures reach average highs in the mid 20's Celsius (70 to 80 Fahrenheit). In winter the Vancouver Island region is the most temperate of all British Columbia. And, like Victoria, Silver Spray gets less than 1/3 the rainfall of Tofino and other areas further up the west coast of Vancouver Island.
